Our commitment
We work to ensure that our website conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. Our audience is largely 65 and older, which means accessibility is not a checkbox item — it is core to whether the site does its job at all.
We design with sufficient color contrast, scalable text, semantic markup, and keyboard navigation in mind. We test with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and across modern browsers and devices.
Conformance status
We aim for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across our website. Specific accessibility features include: minimum 17px body text size with the option to scale, sufficient color contrast (verified to AA standards), keyboard-accessible navigation including the main menu and all interactive elements, semantic HTML structure, alt text on all images, and respect for the user's prefers-reduced-motion preference.
We are aware that conformance is a moving target. As we add new content and features, we work to maintain conformance and address issues as they are identified.
Known limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, the following are areas we are actively improving: alternative text for placeholder portrait images (these will be updated when actual photography is added), detailed audio descriptions for video content (where present), and continued testing with assistive technologies.
